Q. I am considering an eave mount. I had a chimney mount. 80 MPH winds destroyed my chimney. No more chimney mounts for me. Anyhow, if I mount on the using an eave mount, is there a safe maximum length I can go with the mast? I was considering maybe 10 feet above the top bracket. Would this be wise? Thanks for the contribution your site makes to the less informed like me! John
A. The distance that you can extend the mast pipe out of the eave mountis determined by several factors. The size of the antenna the distance the upper and lower brackets of the eave mount can be separated and the strength of your fascia board. Assuming the fascia board is strong and the brackets are separated by 2 feet or further large antennas 10 feet or longer keep the length to 5 feet. On smaller antennas I have used 10 feet of mast pipe length without issue. An antenna such as the EZ HD can be extended 10 feet and the HD Stacker 8 feet.
